2nd Annual Zapatista Harvest Festival for Peace and Justice
November 4th, 2006
La Milpa Organica, Escondido
Join Schools for Chiapas and La Milpa Organica for a celebration of the
corn harvest, our local food systems, and indigenous cultures. This
festival supports the Schools for Chiapas, Mother Seeds in Resistance
Project. Threatened by GMO contamination in Chiapas, we are growing
heritage Mayan corn around the world. Mother Seeds in Resistance saves
mother corn seeds of the indigenous Mayan people of Chiapas, Mexico,
advocates community-based sustainable agriculture, raises awareness about
the dangers of NAFTA to small and indigenous farmers, and education for
activists. In solidarity with the Zapatista struggle against Neo-Liberal
Globalization, and for peace and justice for all, La Milpa Organica
provides sanctuary for heritage Mayan corn from Chiapas. We invite you to
support justice, dignity, and democracy in San Diego and Mexico.
