"Opening" Night at Arse Electronica

"Who wants to get fucked by a robot?"

I'm in SF this weekend going to Arse Electronica. If you're interested in the intersection of art, technology and sex you should definitely drop by the conference.

Last night was the first event and it was really amazing. Even though it was rather disorganized, with lots of improvisation and not so hot scheduling, there were two great performances. The Electronic Orifice Orchestra demonstrated their kegel instruments, which are inserted into orifices and played by varying pressure on your kegel muscles. Their costumes were awesome.

Definitely the highlight of the evening, though, was the Kink.com demo of Fucking Machines... Kink.com is the generous host of the event, generously letting us use their dungeon in their Porn Palace all weekend. For their demo, they brought out Fuckzilla and asked the audience "So, who wants to get fucked by a robot?" Once they explained that this is pretty much a once in a lifetime chance to use their fucking machine, "unless our talent scouts find you interesting", then a woman in the audience volunteered.

What ensued was a lot of setup, since they had to go get lube and the right sized dildo for the machine. They hadn't actually planned on someone volunteering. The encounter began with her on a table behind a sheet. The sheet was necessary to avoid the whole usc 18 2257 documentation requirements for performers, which would be necessary because the whole event is being webstreamed.

As she narrated her experience on the mic, on the table behind the sheet, and as she told the two operators to increase the speed, her tone changed from joking to "oh, that's good". The amazing demo ended in the lucky volunteer having a great orgasm, sharing it with us and ejaculating. Just at the moment that she came the fluid sort of flew up in the air, above the sheet, probably propelled by the lick-a-chick device.

After a loud round of applause, she went for another round and the music came up.

Monochrom's intro to the cum punch drink as also really good. I laughed a lot and there was some interesting anti-patriarchal, anti-capitalist dialog in it. The humor was the best part of it.

There were definitely some comments made last night that weren't exactly radical or weren't anti-patriarchical enough for my taste, but I'm okay being a little uncomfortable and I'm sure that with today's panels with a lot more women presenting that there will be some more in depth discussion.

I'm going to post some photos in my flickr acct, but they were from my camera phone. There are some great high quality photos in the Arse Electronica pool.
