As we near the end of the month of April we want to provide everyone with a quick update and let you know that people are still down here patrolling the border and your assistance as a legal observer is still very much needed.

The other assault occurred two weeks ago when MM tried to knock the camera out of a legal observer's hand with a flashlight. When Sheriff's Department arrived the MM acted like 6th graders and claimed they did no such thing and it was the legal observer who pushed the MM's and then called the Sheriff's Department.
The last week we also saw an escalation in the 'war like mentality' of MM. While the group of MM on Border Road is mainly retired people on lawn chairs with a few younger people, the participants stationed off of HWY-92 is beginning to look more like a paramilitary group. They have set up tents along side the highway and many of those who do the night patrols are dressed in military fatigues and carrying pistols. Even their radio communications, which we listen to, use more military jargon. For instance we have heard reports of "Charlie behind the wire!" using terms from Vietnam to refer to possible sightings of migrants.
