A day after Bush was in Tucson to talk about his immigration plan, and while he continued his brief propaganda trip through 3 border states, I travelled south one hour's drive from Tucson to Nogales, the biggest Arizona/Sonora border community.

Like many Mexican/US border towns, Nogales is a city whose rapid and uncontrolled growth in the last few decades has been determined largely by the growth of the maquiladoras, foreign-owned factories that here line the main road into the Sonoran interior.
A visit to the border wall downtown made it clear there is a strong anti-border conciousness in the community.
