The incredible journey continues as we awoke in a cooperative house here in Madison. Only 18 people share this house (21 last night) Wisconsin only a few feet from lake FREEZZZZZZING !!!
This past week has once again, has been incredible, as we spent last Wednesday through Sunday in DC where we meet with key legislators and staff as we visited the offices of Senators Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer...we knocked on several republican doors but no gracias NO HABLA DERECHOS HUMANOS...we also visited with friends in congress such as Nancy Pelosi, Bob Filner, Jose Luis Gutierrez, Hilda Solis, and we let Texan Cuellar know what we think of his funding Racist Minutelklan idea...On Saturday we held a rally and march in front of DC Capitol Building as were joined by MECHA, Mexicanos sin Fronteras, MALDEF, Lulac, SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE, activists from Virginia, Delaware, a couple even drove from New Orleans to join us as well as our own Angeles de la Frontera and Gente Unida...plus many many more friends and supporters from all walks of life, all colors and all united against racist HR 4437, NO MORE DEATHS and YES to HUMAN RIGHTS.

When I spoke in front of the capitol and latter the reflecting pond I stated that we too have a dream...and my dream of this caravan was not complete till the morning I decided to announce the idea to our community, and as I did my daily reading that night this last month, after a night of reflection, it was Lucas writings that spoke to me, when the Lord asked two of His disciples to follow him they said, wait we need to go home to gather our things, He said No, just go with what you have all else will be provided, as we will be welcomed from town to town, if not we will dust off our sandals and move on, no dusting here my friends as we have been welcomed with open arms. open hearts and open homes.
If not us then who, if not now then when...
Many in our March/Caravan headed home after DC (special thanks to Benigno and crew) but we are still holding strong with four surviving vehicles (originally had 25) with Micalea, Vicente, Danny, Mercedes, Carmen, Josefina and yours truly.
From DC we went to Baltimore for a RED EMMAS CAFE chat with local activist and the headed to Indiana, via Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio planting crosses along the way, continuing to remember the fallen 4000 and our recent brothers from the Virginia coal mines (and pray for our Mexican brothers now trapped). As we reached Indiana we went to Sunday mass at the University of Norte Dame, where I may be returning for a fellowship! Great Catholic work being done in South Bend, Gracias Miguelito "el pollero bueno" as he lead us to meet the legends of Norte Dame and plant a cross on the legendary campus.
Yesterday we help a rally/conference in the heart of Chicago's Mexican Community (gracias Rocio) and the were hosted by the Casa de Michoacan for a tamalada (gracias Jose Luis y Roberto). Last night we arrived in FREEEEEEZING MADISON WISCONSIN and saw the NEW WORLD BORDER as we held a town hall at the University of Wisconsin. Today we will tell SENSELESSBRENER where he can put his Wisconsin Cheese and let him know WE SAY NO TO HR4437 (our national 187 legislation that has United us from San Diego to DC). We will rally at state capitol and spread the word on local progressive radio. Thanks to Kristy and Alejandro.
This evening we arrive in sunny??? (I hope) Minneapolis/St Paul. Before heading to Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and then back to the home of Border Angels and Gente Unida, San Diego. We should arrive at the end of the month and hope to hold some fund raisers to cover our costs (ouch)be sure to order some MARCHA MIGRANTE LONG SLEEVE TSHIRTS (suggested donations $25.00) as they are selling out wherever we go and helps defer our costs. Please also let me know of you would like to host a fundraiser where we can share our stories, pictures and experiences and proudly let you know that our GENTE UNIDA, JAMAS SERA VENCIDA!
