This afternoon, over a thousand students from high schools and colleges in San Diego walked out of school in protest of The Sensenbrenner-King bill, HR4437. The students gathered at the corner of Park blvd. and Bst, in downtown San Diego. Students then marched to Chicano park in mass. Students from SDSU Mecha, City College's Resistencia Estudantil, and the ISO were also present. Bob Filner also showed up, greeting the crown with an "Hola." Students began to cheer, until one student started making body language signaling his displeasure with the special guest. Bob Filner then turned to the student, and the student responded by asking: "What about the Kenedy McCain bill?!" Bob filner said quick goodbyes, never responding, and quickly left. The same student confronted an unmarked photographer, asking who he was affiliated with, and the man replied Barbara Boxer. The student commented on his outrage, saying that: "Barbara Boxer is known to openly oppose immigrants rights, and she is not welcome here, especially with upcoming elections." Students are being threatened with suspension, expulsion, and seniors are being told they will not be able to graduate if they are found to have participated in the walkout today.
